Phillip is an East Friesian lamb who was born at a Marin County Dairy on January 28th, 2023 and came to Goatlandia on March 3, 2023. He was perfectly healthy at birth, but developed a bacterial infection at one week old and became unable to use his back legs. He was treated with several rounds of antibiotics, but did not regain the use of his back legs.
We are going to bring him to UC Davis for radiographs and a CT scan to try to identify the problem as well as design a treatment plan including physical therapy. We’ve ordered both harnesses and a wheelchair for Phillip and we’re excited to be able to work with him using these appliance to help build his strength and increase his mobility. We are hoping that with physical therapy, he may be able to help Phillip regain partial or full use of his legs.
He’s a wonderful little guy; he has a great appetite and is really wanting to move around and explore his world. We love how very curious, talkative, and sweet he is!
Because he has not yet seen a vet and due to his paralysis, we are keeping him in his own private area for his and everyone's safety.
You can help our little sweet boy by becoming his sponsor or joining our Special Needs Membership Club, where your monthly donation will go towards our special needs animals like Phillip.
