Olive is Jack and Turner's mom. She acts like a mother hen. She checks out the new girls to
see if they are good enough for her sons!
Jack is the lover, hits on all the new girls. Seriously...
Turner is the mischievous one!
Olive, Jack, and Turner have Caseous Lymhphdenitis (CL), a chronic infection that affects goats and sheep that causes them to form abscesses. Good news is that goats who test positive for it can live happy lives with special care to drain their abscesses and keep them comfortable.
Because of the highly contagious nature of CL, goats and sheep who have it must be kept separate from those who don't. Our CL herd live at our Sebastopol location (hence the nickname)
Goatlandia is the ONLY Northern California sanctuary to have a CL+ goat herd. Even among animal sanctuaries, there are few that have CL positive herds, this makes it extremely hard for animals that have CL to find homes.
Sadly, most homes do not have the resources, time, or space to care for animals that test positive for CL.
Besides needing attention, love, food, and water, our CL+ herd requires more veterinary care that then the rest of our goats and regular monitoring for abscesses.
